Hello! Is there a known issue with importing designs to Webflow and interactions being broken on global sections/components? e.g. Nav hamburger menu animation and dropdown animations not linked
Bradley D. Would you mind sending a read-only/sandbox link?
I linked the main navbar interaction for the dropdown chevrons already. You can see that the hamburger animations are not linked for that navbar or the other ‘sub’ navbar on The Accord page
Bradley D. did you already have a Navbar global section before importing?
going to assume no - I guess I'm not terribly surprised by this - Webflow released updates to the Webflow MCP to include interactions, and I wonder if they've modified some calls to interactions inside of apps as well. Could be totally wrong. But to answer your question, no this is not a known bug. Going to do some testing.
Here's the quick guide on getting the navbar menu hooked back up again. Apologies for the inconvenience here.
That’s correct, I did not have the Navbar global section prior to importing. Thanks for looking into this!
Bradley D. I think this disconnected because in our starter clone there were already some interactions. We're releasing an update to the cloneable and I've cleaned this up - hoping this prevents this in the future. Apologies again for the issues.
Matt J. I just imported a wireframe now (Sandbox link: preview.webflow.com/preview/gnb-doors---wireframe?preview=…&workflow=preview&…) and I noticed the sections and individual elements have custom class names. Is this a new feature or is this the product of importing a wireframe versus a design? (The site I previously shared with you was imported from Design and used classes named after the Relume components - screenshots attached for comparison) It also appears that the interactions aren’t linked again for any sections that are global/Webflow components - wanted to bring this to your attention.
Bradley D. both examples used the webflow app correct?
Bradley D. also in that sandbox link - I'm seeing interactions - was there a specific one that didn't carry over? If so its likely caused by the classes being renamed and there being a custom code embed for the interaction - would need to match the class names.
and lastly, its not clear to me if this is just a question or if you'd prefer to have 1 way or over the other - let me know
Matt J. Yep both examples used the Webflow app.
Re: Interactions - looking at the ‘Service Area’ page for example, The sections that are webflow components are missing interactions (Navbar, FAQ section, client logos list). The services section (section_service-area_location-chips-sections) is not a webflow component and its interactions are intact even with the custom class names.
Question: Is there a way to avoid this behaviour on import OR are my only options to relink the interactions after import or avoid using global section.
Re: Custom section/class names - I honestly don’t know where they came from in the first place, and some of them aren’t correct (e.g. “section_service-area_client-logos-list” is applied to the wrong section.
Question: Where do the custom names come from? They would be nice if they were accurate and didn’t present any issues with interactions.
hopefully that provides more context! Sorry, there might be something I’m just not understanding about the process.
Bradley D. no you are good Bradley - I was just making sure I had all my facts straight before I made any claims or conclusions. There are some known issues with the webflow app - some within our control, and some are moving targets due to Webflow making updates. I'll dig in and provide a quick loom with some more context, direction, and ways you can avoid and/or workaround it so that things move more smoothly for you.
